Imagine if investing successfully was as easy as sliding your finger? Well, sadly it is not. But what if registering for a site about investing was that easy? (Hint: Remember I said that). Because the reality is that with every hoop a site asks you to jump through just to register, the likelihood of giving up from mind blowing frustration increases. So, even if it’s a totally cool site that you will love more than sparkly rainbows and purring kittycats - combined – if you can’t even get through the registration process easily, it makes you wonder: What exactly is it waiting for you on the other side??
And nowhere is that more apparent than with the infuriating *CAPTCHA* feature. Essentially, captchas just ensure that we really are humans (as opposed to…..butterflies perhaps?) and are not entering your sight with evil spammy intentions. Scott Stratten, president of UnMarketing (and one of my favorite twitter rock-stars) put it best:
“Your Captcha Is Crappa”
He dedicated an entire post to the topic, you should check it out. Not now though, later. But he’s right. Most captchas are, at best, humorlessly ineffective. Though even that is being addressed (more on that in a minute). Here are some real doozy’s:
Top 5 Worst Captchas
OK, so if you thought those were funny (in a gun to the computer un-funny kinda way) the following ones actually are. I found – and quickly bookmarked – CAPTCHArt.com
Top 5 Funniest Captchas
And I did promise you a *Best* too, right? Coincidentally, it comes from the soon to be launched new version of Wall Street Survivor (clearly a coincidence. Or possibly a shameless plug). The clever folks who do this stuff wanted your whole experience with us to be as smooth as possible, from beginning to end. I’d say that this really *captchas* the ease we are trying to provide for our members:
Best Captcha Ever
Confused? Don’t be. We have simply eliminated those pesky numbers and letter captchas altogether. The captcha is there still. But now all you have to do to prove that you are not a rogue butterfly is to slide your finger (or your mouse) across the *Complete Registration* tab. and that is why
we this captcha is The. Best. Thing. Ever.
What do you think of Captchas? Have you ever given up registering because of them?
